Andy Warhol Abstracts Details
From Library Journal Andy Warhol is not considered an abstract artist, and this book is an unconvincing attempt to make Warhol into something other than the consummate Pop Artist. Though Thomas Kellein places the six series of paintings and silk-screen prints under discussion in the abstract camp, all but the Oxidation series, are more recognizable as pure Warhol Pop. A short section by Callie Angell discusses five of Warhol's films as an abstract expression of the art of filmmaking. This book was occasioned by a European exhibition tour of these prints and paintings and is recommended for only the largest collections of contemporary or American art.-Martin R. Kalfatovic, Natl.
